Key Points
Mars is a shrine maiden, with the a strong "6th sense". She was the leader of the senshi while Venus was acting as the decoy Princess, and was reluctant to give the position up. She butts heads with Kino Makoto and Aino Minako because of their strong personalities, although she developed a strong bond with each of them.
Rei did not have a good relationship with her father, who is a politician. She was deeply resentful of the fact that her father was not there while her mother lay dying in the hospital and repeatedly refused to see him.
Although Rei hates karaoke, she was forced into the Idol business by Minako. Later, she uses her Idol personal, Mars Reiko, to force Minako to realize she has friends and needs to pay attention to her life as well as their mission.
Rei did not like that the past life was dictating their present lives and was resentful of all the pain the past life has caused. One of the reasons she argued with Minako so much is Minako's continual dismissal of her own illness and mortality in order to continue fighting as Sailor Venus.
